Period: October 2023 - October 2025
Key results: Strengthening of EU-Panama relations, valorising historical connections, while promoting intercultural dialogue and sustainable development. The project is closely related to the nomination of the Colonial Transisthmian Route of Panama to the UNESCO World Heritage List, thus a political priority for the country. Thanks to internal buy-in on the importance of the project, it became the guiding topic of EUDEL cultural action in 2025. More than 100 practitioners took part in the Forum, the Exhibition toured 7 places in Panama including outside the capital, and 3.000 printed copies of the Guidebook were distributed.
Leadership of the co-design process with local and European partners, including proposal drafting, submitted to two funding opportunities
Coordination with project managers at Cultural Relations Platform and two implementing experts (one Panamanian and one European), oversight and review of deliverables (Forum on Cultural Routes in the Americas, a Guidebook on the Route, and a network of cultural heritage professionals)
Coordination with local partners, most notably the Ministry of Culture and related heritage institutions
Reporting as part of Annual Press and Information activities and foreward planning
Contribution to the drafting of the Guidebook on Camino de Cruces and Camino Real, and coordination with venues and service providers on the International Forum on Cultural Routes in the Americas, in particular organisation of session on youth
Organisation of supplementary activities: a launch event, two field visits (Camino de Cruces with allies and Camino Real with youth), a beach clean-up at the archaelogical site of Panama Viejo, a youth literary competition and publication of Youth Voices (35 works received), an Exhibition Europe and Panama: Routes that connect that opened on Europe Day and toured 7 places throughout the country, in addition to alignment of the Europea Film Week 2025 with the topic of cultural and natural routes
Oversight of graphic design production by service provider (visual identity proposal and adaptations, Guide, roll-up, banner)
Design of 30 Exhibition panels for printing, based on the Guide
Production of a wrap-up reel on youth visit
Graphic design of documents: presentations, Forum agenda, Exhibition posters, badges, Youth voices
Oversight of audiovisual production by service provider, including live streaming, testimonies and wrap-up videos, as well as adaptation of the format for the touring exhibition
Creation of a project overview and a dedicated page on the website
Organisation of a press conference and interviews of the Ambassador, and subsequent media clipping
Drafting of speeches, press releases, and Exhibition visit script
Presentation of the project, progress and lessons learnt at: launch event, Forum, International Book Fair of Panama, Torres Vedras Academy 2025 (online - Council of Europe), several internal EU meetings and seminars
Guided tours through the Exhibition at CACCO and University of Panama
Coordination of expert presentations at International Conference on Camino Real de Tierra Adentro and commercial circuits (Mexico - INAH), and Beyond World Heritage: other ways to recognize and value heritage (online - Alianza de Paisajes Culturales)
